Paul Thomas Anderson's 1997 film "Boogie Nights"
contains the song "Voices Carry" by 'Til Tuesday. The song is
awesome. It can barely be heard playing on Rollergirl's Walkman near the end of
the movie. PTA mentioned in a commentary for the film he liked this particular
piece of music. Aimee Mann was the singer and bassist for 'Til Tuesday. Eight of
Aimee Mann's solo songs were in PTA's 2000 film "Magnolia". PTA was
apparently inspired by Mann's music while writing the script for
"Magnolia". Some of Mann’s lyrics even made it into the film as
dialogue.
